PM Modi Assesses Defence Readiness with IAF, Navy Heads After Pahalgam Attack

After the Pahalgam attack, Air Chief Marshal A P Singh met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday to brief him on the Indian Air Force’s current state of readiness and to discuss possible response measures being considered by the government and possible response strategies the government is considering. 

The discussion took place at the Prime Minister’s official home and centered on evaluating present security challenges and exploring possible defense strategies. Earlier, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi also briefed the Prime Minister about the Navy’s preparedness in the Arabian Sea, where all major warships and support vessels are currently deployed.

At a recent public gathering, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reaffirmed his dedication to safeguarding India’s frontiers and made it clear that the country would take decisive action against any form of aggression. He highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s decisive leadership and assured the public that the government would act as needed to safeguard the country.

These individual meetings with the Prime Minister followed a recent high-level gathering of military leaders and top officials, where Modi reiterated that the armed forces have full freedom to choose the timing, method, and location for retaliating against the assault. He expressed complete confidence in the military’s professionalism and reaffirmed India’s determination to take strong action against terrorism.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has increased troop deployments and placed its forces on high alert along the Line of Control, with additional heavy weapons and air defenses brought forward. In response, India has also repositioned its troops and ensured its weapon systems are ready to counter any potential moves from across the border.
